ٹوٹتے جاتے ہیں سب آئنہ خانے میرے

وقت کی زد میں ہیں یادوں کے خزانے میرے

زندہ رہنے کی ہو نیّت تو شکایت کیسی

میرے لب پر جو گِلے ہیں وہ بہانے میرے

رخشِ حالات کی باگیں تو مرے ہاتھ میں تھیں

صرف میں نے کبھی احکام نہ مانے میرے

میرے ہر درد کو اس نے اَبَدیّت دے دی

یعنی کیا کچھ نہ دیا مجھ کو خدا نے میرے

میری آنکھوں میں چراغاں سا ہے مستقبل کا

اور ماضی کا ہیولٰی ہے سَرہانے میرے

تُو نے احسان کیا تھا تو جتایا کیوں تھا

اس قدر بوجھ کے لائق نہیں شانے میرے

راستہ دیکھتے رہنے کی بھی لذّت ہے عجیب

زندگی کے سبھی لمحات سہانے میرے

جو بھی چہرہ نظر آیا ترا چہرہ نکلا

تو بصارت ہے مری، یار پرانے میرے

سوچتا ہوں مری مٹّی کہاں اڑتی ہوگی

اِک صدی بعد جب آئیں گے زمانے میرے

صرف اِک حسرتِ اظہار کے پر تو ہیں ندیم

اک لمحہ کو ٹھہر میں تجھے پتھر لادوں

کون سے رنگ کا پتھر تیرے کام آئے گا

سرخ پتھر جسے دل کہتی ہے بے دل دنیا

یا وہ پتھرائی ہوئی آنکھ کا نیل پتھر

جس میں صدیوں کے تحیر کے پڑے ہوں ڈورے

کیا تجھے روح کے پتھر کی ضرورت ہوگی

جس پر حق بات بھی پتھر کی طرح گرتی ہے

اک وہ پتھر ہے جو کہلاتا ہے تہذیبِ سفید

اس کے مرمر میں سیاہ خوں جھلک جاتا ہے

زندگی کے جتنے دروازے ہیں مجھ پر بند ہیں

دیکھنا، حدِ نظر سے اگے دیکھنا بھی جرم ہے

سوچنا،اپنے یقینوں سے نکل کر سوچنا بھی جرم ہے

آسماں در آسماں اسرار کی پرتیں الٹ کر جھانکنا بھی جرم ہے

کیوں بھی کہنا جرم ہے

کیسے بھی کہنا جرم ہے

سانس لینے کی آزادی میسّر ہےمگر

زندہ رہنے کیلئے کچھ اور بھی درکار ہے

اور اس “کچھ اور بھی” کا تذکرہ بھی جرم ہے

زندگی کے نام پر بس ایک عنایت چاہیئے

مجھے ان جرائم کی اجازت چاہیئے

شبِ خاموش کو تنہائی نے زباں دے دی

نئے خیال اب آتے ہیں ڈھل کے ذہن میں

یہ ارتقاء کا چلن ہے کہ ہر زمانے میں

پرانے لوگ نئے آدمی سے ڈرتے تھے

ندیم جو بھی ملاقات تھی ادھوری تھی

کہ ایک چہرے کے پیچھے ہزار چہرے تھے

بخدا مجھ کو خدا لگتا ہے

اتنا مانوس ہوں سناٹے سے

کوئی بولے تو برا لگتا ہے

ان سے مل کر بھی نہ کافور ہوا

درد سے سب سے جدا لگتا ہے

نطق کا ساتھ نہیں دیتا ذہن

شکر کرتا ہوں گِلہ لگتا ہے

اس قدر تند ہے رفتارِ حیات

وقت بھی رشتہ بپا لگتا ہے

کچھ نہیں مانگتا شاہوں سے یہ شیدا تیرا

اس کی دولت ہے فقط نقشِ کفِ پا تیرا

تہ بہ تہ تیرگیاں ذہن پہ جب لوٹتی ہیں

نور ہو جاتا ہے کچھ اور ہویدا تیرا

کچھ نہیں سوجھتا جب پیاس کی شدت سے مجھے

چھلک اٹھتا ہے میری روح میں مینا تیرا

پورے قد سے میں کھڑا ہوں تو یہ ہے تیرا کرم

مجھ کو جھکنے نہیں دیتا ہے سہارا تیرا

دستگیری میری تنہائی کی تو نے ہی تو کی

میں تو مر جاتا اگر ساتھ نہ ہوتا تیرا

لوگ کہتے ہیں سایہ تیرے پیکر کا نہ تھا

میں تو کہتا ہوں جہاں بھر پہ ہے سایہ تیرا

تو بشر بھی ہے مگر فخرِ بشر بھی تو ہے

مجھ کو تو یاد ہے بس اتنا سراپا تیرا

میں تجھے عالمِ اشیاء میں بھی پا لیتا ہوں

لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ ہے عالمِ بالا تیرا

میری آنکھوں سے جو ڈھونڈیں تجھے ہر سو دیکھیں

صرف خلوت میں جو کرتے ہیں نظارا تیرا

وہ اندھیروں سے بھی درّانہ گزر جاتے ہیں

جن کے ماتھے میں چمکتا ہے ستارا تیرا

ندیاں بن کے پہاڑوں میں تو سب گھومتے ہیں

ریگزاروں میں بھی بہتا رہا دریا تیرا

شرق اور غرب میں نکھرے ہوئے گلزاروں کو

نکہتیں بانٹتا ہے آج بھی صحرا تیرا

اب بھی ظلمات فروشوں کو گلہ ہے تجھ سے

رات باقی تھی کہ سورج نکل آیا تیرا

تجھ سے پہلے کا جو ماضی تھا ہزاروں کا سہی

اب جو تا حشر کا فردا ہے وہ تنہا تیرا

ایک بار اور بھی بطحا سے فلسطین میں آ

راستہ دیکھتی ہے مسجدِ اقصی تیرا
